Biography:
Lieutenant Diakite Mohammad is a 2019 graduate of the New York City College of Technology, where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Since completing his studies, he has dedicated his career to serving in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Naval Engineer, Law Enforcement Officer, and French Interpreter. Throughout his service, he has been deployed on multiple Coast Guard vessels, playing a critical role in counter-narcotics operations, search and rescue missions, and international collaborations with foreign nations. Currently, Lieutenant Diakite serves at the U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington DC as the Vessel Environmental Program Manager, where he oversees all environmental inquiries related to Coast Guard vessels, ensuring compliance with environmental policies and regulations.
Born in Queens, New York, and raised in the Ivory Coast, Lieutenant Diakite developed a passion for mechanical engineering at a young age. His journey at City Tech began as a SEEK student, where he was mentored by Mrs. Kisha Swaby and Evita Colon. The SEEK program played a pivotal role in his academic and professional growth, providing him with financial assistance, access to essential academic resources, and mentorship. Through the SEEK computer lab, tutoring programs, and counseling services, he was able to excel in his coursework while navigating both academic and personal challenges. Additionally, professional development events and volunteer opportunities through SEEK further enriched his experience, equipping him with the skills and confidence to thrive in his career.
Lieutenant Diakite attributes much of his success to the invaluable support and opportunities provided by the SEEK program. He remains deeply grateful for the mentorship, guidance, and resources that helped shape his path, enabling him to serve his country with distinction.
