You should complete a Change of Major (COM) Form** and submit it to the Registrar.
The form can be found here:
https://www.citytech.cuny.edu/registrar-forms/Forms/Index
**Approval of this form will depend on completion of BIO 1101 or BIO 2311,
with a grade of C or higher and a minimum GPA of 2.7.
The clinical phase of the program is 2 full years (Fall, Spring, and Summer Session I). NOTE: Before entering the clinical phase of the program, depending on a student's course load and academic plan it may take anywhere from 1 semester to a full academic year to complete the pre-requisite courses.
No. The program requires a full-time and day-time only commitment with no exceptions.
To be eligible for acceptance into the Radiologic Technology Program, students must:
a. Be a Pre-Clinical Radiologic Technology major as listed in DegreeWorks by the Spring semester deadline found in the college calendar.
b. By the end of a Fall semester, complete the 5 (or 4) required prerequisites—BIO 1101 (If required), BIO 2311, MAT 1275 or MAT 1275CO, RAD 1124 and ENG 1101, or ENG 1101CO or ENG 1101ML. *See #6 below for more information concerning RAD 1124.
c. Complete the Radiologic Technology Application for Program Admission Form by the due date listed on the program’s website effective Spring 2025.
d. If a transfer student, complete one full semester at City Tech. Note that summer or winter sessions are not considered a full semester.
e. Have an cumulative (overall) minimum GPA of 2.7 on your City Tech transcript.
Once the above eligibility requirements are met, students may then be considered for admission into the program by the Selection Committee during the Spring semester. Students seeking admission into the clinical phase of the program will be reviewed by the Selection Committee based on their cumulative (overall) GPA reflected on their City Tech transcript and GPA of the prerequisite courses.
NOTE: A new class is selected only once a year to begin in the Fall semester. The selection process for the clinical phase of the program occurs in the prior Spring semester. Therefore, all eligibility requirements must be completed by the end of the Fall semester prior to the Spring selection.
Effective in the Spring 2026 semester for those seeking admission for the Fall 2027 cohort and forward, note that the course now has specific prerequisites and/or corequisite as follows: Prerequisite: ENG 1101 or ENG 1101CO or ENG 1101ML Pre or Corequisite: BIO 2311
There is no set GPA for admittance as the minimum GPA varies from year to year. A competitive GPA is required based on the cumulative (overall) GPA reflected in the student’s City Tech transcript as well as the GPA of the prerequisite courses. The minimum GPA to be eligible for admission consideration is 2.7.
a. If a student scored 85% or higher on the NYS Regent's Exam or
b. If a student has already completed BIO 2311 Anatomy and Physiology I lecture and lab,
which is a more advanced biology course with a grade of C or higher and taken within 5 years of program entry.
Note: To fulfill this missing requirement, a student may choose any 4-credit Scientific World course listed under CUNY Pathways to replace the 4-credit BIO 1101 course. If a 4-credit Scientific World course has already been completed, an additional course is not necessary. Please see this link for more information: https://www.citytech.cuny.edu/pathways/flexible-core.aspx
Yes. If BIO 2311 and 2312 have been taken more than 5 years, the courses should be taken again. Contact the BIO Department for permission. If either course was taken at a non-CUNY school, then an unofficial transcript must be submitted to verify that the course was taken within the 5 year limit.
Employment is the single greatest cause of failure in the program. Students who work are at risk of failing one or more RAD courses and therefore cannot continue.
Check CUNYfirst for blocks, contact the Bursar for a financial block or the Registrar for registration issues.

I have a CUNY Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) grade for one of the pre-requisite courses, what should I do?
The Radiologic Technology program falls under the category of Licensure, Accreditation, and Certification rules where candidates must demonstrate competencies in both academic and clinical requirements for their credentials. Radiologic Technology students are to take the letter grade vs. the CR grade so that the Selection Committee would be provided with course grades to calculate the pre-requisite GPA.
A grade of CR would impact the comparison between students who have 16 credits vs. those with less. As a result, students with a CR grade are being advised to repeat the course. This ensures that selected students demonstrate on their transcript that they have the required competency in the pre-clinical courses and their eligibility for the clinical phase.
Again, it is not advisable to use CR for program required courses. This includes the RAD courses and any General Education courses listed on the Sample Course of Study form.
UPON ACCEPTANCE INTO THE CLINICAL PHASE OF THE PROGRAM
No. We strongly discourage students from reading the textbooks prior to starting the program. We find that it can be exceptionally damaging to our work in the classroom.
You should use this time to thoroughly review all materials covered in BIO 2311 Human Anatomy and Physiology I. You may start learning medical terminology. Begin with prefixes, suffixes, word roots, and combining forms.
Refer to the College Catalog and visit the website at: http://www.citytech.cuny.edu/radiologic
Each student will be provided with a pre-made blocked schedule (grid) each semester.
