The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) is a system of interrelated
surveys conducted annually by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center
for
Education Statistics (NCES). IPEDS gathers information from every college, university,
and
technical and vocational institution that participates in the federal student financial
aid
programs across the United States.
The IPEDS surveys collect data on post-secondary education in eight areas:
institutional
characteristics; institutional prices; admissions; enrollment; student financial
aid;
degrees and certificates conferred; student persistence and success; and academic
libraries,
institutional, and human fiscal resources. These data are used at the
federal and state
level for policy analysis and development; at the institutional level for benchmarking
and
peer analysis; and by students and parents, through the College Navigator
(https://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/),
to aid in the college search process. For more
information about IPEDS, see http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds.
The Data Feedback Report is intended to provide institutions a context for examining the
data they submitted to IPEDS, and to provide institutional executives a useful resource
and
to help improve the quality and comparability of IPEDS data. The figures in this report
provide a selection of indicators for your institution to compare with a group of
similar
institutions.
