The Honors Scholars Program encourages students to earn honors credit within any course. Honors projects typically involve substantial independent work in addition to the standard course requirements.
Specific expectations for the honors contract must be developed collaboratively between the student and professor and approved by both the department chairperson and the Director of the Honors Scholars Program. Honors credit is recorded on the official transcript as "Honors Project", followed by the course and semester.
The honors contract should be completed, signed by the student and professor, and approved by the department chairperson and the Director of the Honors Scholars Program by the end of the first month of the semester.
To receive honors credit, students must:
Complete required online modules
Submit project information by the deadline
Submit presentation slides or a poster by the designated deadline
Participate in the Dr. Janet Liou-Mark Honors Scholars & Undergraduate Research Conference
Earn a grade of B or higher in the course
