LEAP to Teacher (LTT)

The LEAP to Teacher (LTT) program is a collaborative university partnership between City Tech and the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies (SLU). The program is completely free and requires no additional enrollment or application steps for student participation. LTT is designed to serve as a vital companion program to NYC Men Teach and TOC II, allowing eligible students to participate in all three initiatives simultaneously to maximize their support network. While the program supports working union members across all academic majors, it maintains a strong focus on providing specialized pathways toward teacher certification for education majors.

LTT provides comprehensive academic, career, and navigational support to help union-represented school and daycare personnel successfully complete their degrees and advance their careers. Eligible participants receive a wide array of benefits, including one-on-one academic advising, specialized tutoring, career counseling, and job placement assistance. While the program does not offer direct financial aid or funding, it provides dedicated support to help students identify and navigate the application process for financial assistance programs, scholarships, and New York City Public Schools tuition benefits, including DOE Career Training Program (CTP) vouchers, alongside free NYS teacher certification exam preparation workshops and practice tests.

Interested in participating? Please complete the LEAP To Teacher Interest Form so that our program liaison can connect with you directly.
