Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) for the AAS MECH program:

Graduates will be able:

PEO1: To be employed in entry-level positions as engineering technicians, assistant mechanical engineers, engineering research assistants, assistant mechanical designers, junior CNC operator/programmers, manufacturing technicians, and quality technicians.

PEO2: To be enrolled in a four-year mechanical engineering technology related program to continue their study.

PEO3: To practice effective oral, written, and graphical communication skills.

PEO4: To possess multidisciplinary engineering attitude and teamwork skills.

Student Outcomes (SOs) for the AAS MECH Program:

SO1: An ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve well-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.

SO2: An ability to design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the engineering design of systems, components, or processes appropriate to the discipline.

SO3: An ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in well-defined technical and non-technical environments and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.

SO4: An ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results.

SO5: An ability to function effectively as a member of a technical team.

Program Specific Criterion for the AAS MECH Program:

PC1: Students demonstrate knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, computer aided drafting and design, and a basic knowledge and familiarity with industry codes, specifications, and standards.

PC2: Students demonstrate the ability to select, set up, and calibrate instrumentation, and prepare laboratory reports and systems documentation associated with the development, installation, or maintenance of mechanical components and systems.

PC3: Students demonstrate expertise in the analysis of engineering data and the applied design and analysis of energy, thermal, and power systems.

Mechanical Engineering Technology/BTech

Mechanical Engineering Technology/BTech

This multidisciplinary curriculum addresses both theory and hands-on experience with industry-standard tools in manufacturing systems, industrial design and robotics, providing the broad-based engineering technology education required to solve applied engineering problems through design and analysis.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) for the BTech MECH program:

Graduates will be able:

PEO1: To be employed as engineering technologists or designers.

PEO2: To be enrolled in graduate programs in mechanical engineering technology or other related engineering technology fields.

PEO3: To practice effective oral, written, and in graphical communication skills.

PEO4: To possess multidisciplinary engineering knowledge and teamwork skills.

Student Outcomes (SOs) for the BTech MECH Program:

SO1: An ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.

SO2: An ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.

SO3: An ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly defined technical and non-technical environments and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.

SO4: An ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.

SO5: An ability to function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.

Program Specific Criterion for the BTech MECH Program:

PC1: Students demonstrate an applied basis in engineering mechanics/science.

PC2: Students will be able to apply MET principals to the analysis, development, or oversight of advanced mechanical systems or processes.

Industrial Design Technology/AAS

Industrial Design Technology/AAS

The Industrial Design Technology (IND) program is designed to provide students with a wide variety of valuable skills enabling them to utilize a number of 2D, 3D and animation/simulation software packages in several diverse fields.
