Supports students academically, with personal development goals and to engage students with the college community

Why Is Advising Important?

Resources/Supports:

  • Academic Planning
  • Promote downloading and completing HRA Access Application
  • Assistance with maintaining HRA compliance
  • Completion of school enrollment verification letter (W-700D) and most HRA-related forms
  • CUNY EDGE/ Mitsui USA full tuition scholarship and assistance identifying other scholarship opportunities
  • Degree Audit/transfer assistance
  • GPA achievement incentives
  • Graduation incentives
  • Limited intersession and summer tuition payment
  • Professional development seminars
  • Social services referral (homelessness, eviction and eviction prevention, domestic violence, child support, and other assistance as required)
  • Tutoring Center-Specialized tutoring in reading, writing and math
  • Liaise between campus departments Academic Departments, Admissions, Bursar , Counseling Services, Financial Aid, New Student Center, Our Children's Center, Professional Development Center (PDC), Registrar, Scholarships & Residency Services, Transfer Office, and Wellness Center.
  • Referrals and collaboration with other special programs Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP), Black Male Initiative (BMI), Bridging the Gaps (BTG), Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP), College Now, Center for Student Accessibility (CSA), Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP), Math Start, The Percy Ellis Sutton SEEK Program (Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge), Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM), and Study Abroad.
